Who we are!

Summerville Bunnlevel Fire & Rescue, Inc. is a volunteer fire department located in Harnett County North Carolina that provides fire protection, fire prevention, water rescue and extrication services to the taxpayers who reside in and any citizen passing through the Summerville Bunnlevel Fire District.  Organized on October 31, 1966 as Summerville Rural Fire District, Inc., the name was changed in April 1975 to Summerville Fire Department Inc, again in October 1991 to Summerville Fire and Rescue Inc, and after merging with the former Bunnlevel Volunteer Fire Department in 2011 has changed its name to Summerville Bunnlevel Fire & Rescue, Inc.

The response area consists of the rural area outside of and surrounding the incorporated limits of the Town of Lillington, the Harnett County Seat, as well as the community of Bunnlevel and surrounding areas for a total of  61.76 square miles.  The district is home to 6,371 residents according to the 2010 census. Summerville Bunnlevel Fire and Rescue currently has a straight ISO rating of 5 and maintains a "Medium Duty" certification from the North Carolina Association of Rescue and EMS.

SBFR is currently staffed by 50 volunteer firefighters and 12 part-time paid firefighters, 4 of which are on-duty daily as paid staff from 0700 to 1700 M-F.  We provide automatic mutual aid to 9 of our neighboring fire districts.
